Veterans 'Aid and Attendance' Pension for the Golden Years
The Aid and Attendance (A&A) pension is awarded to a veteran or surviving spouse that requires assistance with their Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) such as dressing, bathing, cooking, eating etc.
HOW LONG HAS THE A&A PENSION BEEN AROUND?
The A&A pension has been around since the end of World War II, more than 60 years.
WHO CAN QUALIFY FOR THE A&A PENSION?
To qualify for the A&A pension a veteran (married or single) or surviving spouse must pass "5 Tests" they are:
-Be age 65 years or older, or if under age 65 must have a total & permanent disability that prevents you from working.
-Service of 1 day during a war time period.
-Must have a medical need for some help. If over age 65 you DO NOT have to be disabled.
-Income qualifications. The VA allows lots of deductions. Most people don't know how to structure their income to receive the maximum benefit.
-Asset Qualifications. Your home & car are "Exempt Assets". Other assets can be structured in the "Exempt Asset" category so you can receive your full benefits.

Surviving Spouse - $1,094 per month.........$13,128 per year!
Single Veteran - $1,703 per month.........$20,436 per year!
Married Couple - $2,019 per month.........$24,228per year!
WHAT ARE THE WAR PERIODS THAT QUALIFY ME?
Mexican Border War 1916-1917.
WWI 1917-1921.
WWII 12/7/1941 - 12/31/1946.
Korean War 6/27/1950 - 1/31/1955.
Vietnam War 2/28/1961 to 5/7/1975 **Note: Veteran had to be physically in Vietnam between 2/28/1961 to August 4, 1964 to qualify. After August 5, 1964 through 5/7/1975 the veteran could have been stationed elsewhere as long as they were active duty during those years.
Gulf War 1990 to present day.
